Teen MindMeld: A Writer’s Group but Better!
ages 13+
8 weeks, Mondays, 10:15, September 15 - November 10, skipping October 13
$199

Part master class, part mentorship, and part mastermind! This class is full of rich writing experiences for you to soak up like a sponge ... or maybe a fountain pen (or maybe a failed simile ...)?

n this format, participants will be able to work on and get feedback on their own writing projects. We'll brainstorm together, work together to set goals, revise effectively, and become stronger writers across the board using mini-lessons and mentor texts. We'll all be accountable to one another, and also serve as resources for one another. As always, I'll be providing comments through the learners' private Google docs to help with revision and editing improvements.

But that's not all! This immersive writing experience will include in-class  individual challenge microfiction stories where everyone gives feedback to everyone else (designed to highlight strengths and improve skills, not to encourage a competitive environment), and weekly writing assignments to stretch us creatively and reinforce the mini-lesson learning.

As with anything in life, the more you put into it, the more you'll get out of it ... and we'll all be there, cheering you along!

Asynchronous essay class … perfect for busy fall schedules!

Argumentative Essay Writing -- Asynchronous Format
ages 12+
eight self-paced modules with one-on-one instructor guidance
$199

Ready to up your essay game? Maybe you're taking homeschool classes that require more essay writing these days, or perhaps your ELA classes are more demanding now that you're in upper middle, high school, or college. If you're looking for essay writing to be easier, flow more naturally, and be effective and convincing, step right up!

This class works a bit differently than my live classes, though you'll get a similar experience: class instruction, and then one-on-one guidance, suggestions, and comments from me as you complete your assignment for each module. Working with you individually, I am able to differentiate instruction based on your age, skill level, and goals for the class.

The eight modules are pre-recorded, so they can be watched at your convenience, one at a time. After each module, you'll complete an assignment with my guidance and feedback through our shared Google doc. You can ask questions anytime! Once you've mastered that module and the assignment, I'll send the link to the next module. By the end of the eight modules, you'll have written two argumentative essays -- the first slowly and incrementally with lots of guidance, and the second more independently with help as needed for both drafting and revision. Independence is always the goal!

Modules include in-depth instruction on introductory and concluding sentences and paragraphs, thesis statements, body paragraphs, supporting evidence, citing sources, and more. I know you can't get enough of my hot tips, so expect those, both within the module and in handout form for your reference throughout the class and beyond.

The beauty of this class is its flexibility!

- You can enroll anytime.
- You can watch each module anytime that is convenient, and you can watch it as many times as you like.
- You can take as long as you like to work through each module's assignment, and I will always be available for feedback and guidance.

Custom Writing Sessions

As my focus shifts from teaching large group classes to private and semi-private sessions, my offerings have changed as well. You are still welcome to request any group classes listed on the tabs of this site, and the pricing looks different dependent on the amount of learners signed up.

Private Writing Sessions, 1 student
ages 8-18
8 weeks
$269

Do you love to write and have some ideas about how you'd like to improve your writing? Each week, we'll meet for a mini lesson that is focused on what the learner has identified as something they want to work on, and/or what I notice they need to work on in their writing -- both style and grammar. Their homework will be to apply these things to whatever story they choose to write. This model promotes rapid individual growth through autonomy, with a side of coaching and mentorship -- the perfect recipe to create lifelong enthusiastic writers.

This new format includes a customized 10-15 minute mini-lesson once a week (live and online at a designated time), homework, and my coaching and follow-up within a shared Google doc throughout the week. If your learner works well independently and can spend about ten minutes a day or at least 45 minutes a week on their writing homework, this is a great option for them.

Semi-Private Writing Sessions, 2-3 students
ages 8-18
8 weeks
$209

Do you love to write and have some ideas about how you'd like to improve your writing? Each week, we'll meet for a mini lesson that is focused on what the learners have identified as something they want to work on, and/or what I notice they need to work on in their writing -- both style and grammar. Their homework will be to apply these things to whatever story they choose to write. This model promotes rapid individual growth through autonomy, with a side of coaching and mentorship -- the perfect recipe to create lifelong enthusiastic writers.

This new format includes a customized 15-30 minute mini-lesson once a week (live and online at a designated time), homework, and my coaching and follow-up within a shared Google doc. If your learner has a buddy they'd like to collaborate with each week, this is a great option (It may also be possible for me to match interested parties and their ages/skills if you don't have a friend in mind but would like to try the semi-private option.). They will still need to work well independently and spend about ten minutes a day or at least 45 minutes a week on their writing homework to get the most out of this option.
